Dale traveled all the way from Sitka, Alaska to train with us last winter. It was a great pleasure helping him earn his Private Pilot Certificate in January.
A January instructor tune-up flight. Although the bulk of our backcountry training is done in Idaho, northern Nevada has some beautiful spots to enjoy.
Fred took some personal time to airplane camp on the California coast. We can all thank the RAF for the work they did to make this incredible destination accessible.

Steve holds our current record for repeated bookings. He's been coming from California each year to fly with us in Idaho, Oregon and Utah. He's seen here enjoying the lush grass and wildflowers of the early season near Hells Canyon.

A breakfast stop with Jackson and his very capable Cessna 182 at Temperance Creek Ranch, Hells Canyon. Hells Canyon gets hot in the summer. Best to enjoy it by early June or in September.
John traveled out from North Carolina for four days of mountain/canyon training in May. You can check out his wonderful testimonial in that section of our website.
John was thrilled when we ran into Amy during one of our training days. Amy Hoover was lead author on the highly regarded book, "Mountain, Canyon and Backcountry Flying."
We had a great time flying with Arron who came down from Manitoba for three days of training. Arron flies a sweet tailwheel airplane from his own grass airstrip, Low Eddie's Airpark, back home.

After training in Idaho together, I met up with Lisa in Santa Paula to help her with a bit of flying in her mighty Luscombe. A very cool old school airplane. What a kick!

In November Fred was honored to receive the FAA's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for "50 years of exemplary aviation flight experience, distinguished professionalism, and steadfast commitment to aviation safety."
Chris came out to our Reno location for a thorough Kitfox introduction lesson. Like many, he chose us to learn more about the airplane as he contemplates a possible build or purchase in the future. December 6th at Rocky Meadow.

Thanks for a great year! We hope to make 2023 even better.

We're grateful for the wonderful clients and friends who flew with us in 2022. We were busier than ever, providing primary, transition, tailwheel and mountain/canyon instruction to clients from all over the United States and Canada. We trained in everything from Super Cubs to Skywagons while flying through some spectacular landscapes. As always, our bases in Reno and Cascade Idaho proved ideal for the variety of instruction services we provide. It was all tremendously rewarding. Messages like this one from Dan, received just a day after flying together in his beautiful Skywagon make it all worthwhile:

"Hey Fred I made it home last night around 5:00. I was thinking while I was putting the airplane in the hangar that even tho I have had the airplane for 11 years I don’t think I have ever felt so comfortable in it. I also know that after each day that passes that feeling will begin to fade! I just can’t stop thinking about the last few days. What a game changer that it has been. Thank you for all the knowledge that you shared with such enthusiasm but more importantly thank you for keeping us safe!!"
